How to reach GSSI

The CYGNO Collaboration Meeting 2021 will be held in the main Auditorium of the Gran Sasso Science Institute Rectorate, located in Via Michele Jacobucci 2, 67100 L'Aquila, about 120 km east from Rome, Italy.

The closest airports are Roma Fiumicino and Roma Ciampino

TRAVELLING BY BUS

Bus transportation to L'Aquila is available from both Roma Fiumicino and Roma Ciampino airports, as well from Rome Tiburtina train station, from the following companies:

Tickets can be bought on the bus, but we suggest you to book them online to guarantee you a seat at the chosen travel time (buses are often full). Prices vary from 6.00 EUROs to 16.00 EUROs depending on the company and travel times.

Buses from Tua Abruzzo stop at Collemaggio Bus Terminal. From Collemaggio Bus Terminal, GSSI can be reached by feet (approximately 450 m, see map below).

Buses from Flixbus and Gaspari Bus will stop at Hotel Amiternum, from which GSSI can be reached with any local bus heading to city center getting down at Collemaggio Bus Terminal. Alternatively, it is possible to use a local taxi company.

 

TRAVELLING BY CAR

If travelling by car from Rome, get on the Rome ring highway Grande Raccordo Anulare and take Exit 14 towards L'Aquila/Teramo/Pescara/Firenze/Napoli. Keep on A24 highway towards L'Aquila and take exit L'Aquila Ovest. Follow indication to City Center and signs for Gran Sasso Science Institute. TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

We do not advise to travel by train, since there are no direct trains from Rome to L'Aquila and several connections might be needed. Anyway, if you prefer this option, please see the national train company web page Trenitalia.
