Description

Searches for GRBs in the very high energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) domain have reached in the last decade a few important milestones and open new research frontiers. The detections of the first events in the VHE band by ground-based observatories led to several studies on the interpretation of this component in terms of its nature, properties and its relationship with the lower energy bands in a multi-wavelength context. The properties of the current sample of GRBs detected also allow to investigate the capability of these objects to be involved in studies of the intergalactic magnetic field. In this talk I will present and summarize what we learned from the discovery of GRBs in the VHE domain and the studies and challenges to be faced in the near future.
