Abstract: The talk reports on progress towards a treatment of the
1-Laplace and (geometric) prescribed-mean-curvature PDEs with a
measure as the right-hand side. Indeed, a variational approach via
minimization of total-variation and area functionals with additional
signed-measure terms will be taken, and the focus will be on existence
theory for BV minimizers. This theory involves certain isoperimetric
conditions as sharp assumptions on the measures and can cope with
compensation-cancellation effects between the terms of the
functional. The results will be illustrated through examples and are
partially based on joint work with E. Ficola (Hamburg).
