Description

Abstract: I will review a set of highlights achieved in Gamma-ray Astrophysics in the last decade thanks to AGILE and Fermi observations.

Remarkable results in the study of Galactic and extragalactic sources have been obtained thanks to the combination of instrument performance and observing mode strategy:

a) the gamma-ray emission in micro-quasars; b) the challenging emission properties of blazars; c) the Crab Nebula variability and the theoretical challenges; d) gamma-ray emitters in the multi-messenger era.

These results will be discussed also in view of next generation gamma-ray missions.
